Text conversation between The Other Half and I this afternoon Me The dessert at the F-Hotel buffet: Grass Jelly with Attache I looked at the bowl of jelly. Then I looked under the table for its attache. He Don’t be silly. Everyone knows the sago do all the heavy lifting. No self respecting grass jelly [...]

I walked the increased distance to the train station with my lovely sunglasses, with the world bathed in a golden glow through its lenses, listening to my current favourite song by Fun (your heart isn’t breaking and mine isn’t making a sound), looking forward. My father would at some point later today surrender the keys [...]

The Court decided to give me a break last Thursday, which allowed me to take Friday off to make it a super long weekend. So on Friday, we dropped Peanut off at school, then took Lion for his MMR jab at the paede’s. After, we dropped Lion off at my parents and went to the [...]

My relationship with cheesecake begun when I was about 15 or 16, at Billy Bombers in Holland Village, where I used to meet a friend for drinks and dessert after dinner. We’d sit together in a booth and share a slice of cheesecake, order California Dreaming on the jukebox maybe 2 or 3 times, and [...]

I made these lovely soft caramel candies yesterday afternoon as follows: In a saucepan, heat 180ml of cream with 1/2 teaspoonful of vanilla essence, 1/2 rounded teaspoonful of fine sea salt and 30g of butter until it begins to boil. Remove from neat and keep warm. Heat 1/2 cup of corn syrup (or golden syrup) [...]

The Chef mentioned to me on Sunday while we were at the Arts House for the cat photo exhibition that there is a French restaurant tucked away along Circular Road that is pretty good and has been there for a while. Such travesty that we have a decent French restaurant right under our noses all [...]

A dip in the pool with the kids with lots of laughs and a nice stretch for my back. Chicken macaroni for lunch (in homemade chicken soup with fusilli / couscous depending on your age group). A close friend over for D&D. A shared bottle of sparkling white wine. A nice nap on the couch [...]

I put away the large pot that we use to sterilize the infant milk bottles this weekend while I was making bolognese sauce for lunch on Saturday. I have stopped breastfeeding two weeks back and we no longer needed to sterilize the breast pump at the end of every work day. While scrubbing the pot [...]

At any point in time of this long weekend, at least one of my family members came down with the viral flu. On Chu Xi, The Other Half came down with the puking / diarrhoea during the first reunion dinner with my Mother-In-Law and Sis-In-Law at our place and spent the 2nd and 3rd reunion [...]
